Product & Purity
What makes Kapilash Amrit honey different from commercial honey?
Kapilash Amrit honey is 100% raw, unpasteurized, and unprocessed. It is harvested from wild forest bees in the Kapilash Range of Odisha, far from agricultural chemicals or industrial pollution. Unlike commercial honey, we never heat, micro-filter, or add sugar syrups. Every jar retains natural pollen, enzymes, minerals, and antioxidants exactly as nature intended.
Is Kapilash Amrit honey organic?
Our honey is harvested from wild forest environments within protected biospheres. The bees forage exclusively on wild flora in forests that are naturally free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and agricultural runoff. While we follow organic principles, formal organic certification for wild forest honey requires specific governmental processes. Our honey is tested for purity and authenticity in every batch.
What is the difference between forest honey and multiflora honey?
Forest honey is produced by bees foraging primarily in dense forest ecosystems, collecting nectar from wild forest flora, medicinal plants, and native tree blossoms. It tends to be darker, thicker, and more robust in flavor. Multiflora honey comes from bees collecting nectar from multiple flowering species across diverse environments, resulting in a more balanced, layered flavor profile.
Why does the color and taste of honey vary between jars?
Natural honey is not uniform. Color, aroma, and flavor vary based on the flowers in bloom when the bees collected nectar. Seasonal changes, weather conditions, and the specific floral sources all influence the final product. This variation is a hallmark of authenticity, not inconsistency.
What species of bees produce Kapilash Amrit honey?
Our honey is primarily produced by the native Indian honey bee, Apis Cerana Indica. These bees are perfectly adapted to the local Kapilash climate and forest flora, producing honey with exceptional medicinal properties and a unique flavor profile.
Is your honey tested for C4 sugars or adulteration?
Yes, every batch of Kapilash Amrit honey undergoes rigorous laboratory testing. We specifically test for C4 sugars, moisture levels (must be below 18-19%), HMF levels, and diastase activity to guarantee that the honey is 100% pure and unadulterated.
Is the honey filtered?
We use a simple gravity-based mesh filter to remove large pieces of wax or bee debris. We never use micro-filtration or high-pressure filters, which would remove the beneficial pollen grains.
Do you add any flavorings or infusions?
Currently, we focus exclusively on pure, single-origin natural honey. Any flavor you taste—whether woody, floral, or herbal—comes entirely from the nectars of the flowers the bees visited.
Is it safe to eat the white foam that sometimes appears on top of the honey?
Yes, that white 'foam' is actually tiny air bubbles that have risen to the top. This is a characteristic of raw honey that has been bottled without high-pressure filtration and is perfectly safe to eat.
What is the moisture content of your honey?
Our Premium Forest Honey typically maintains a moisture content below 18%. This natural thickness is achieved by allowing the bees to fully mature the honey in the comb until it is sealed with wax.
Health & Wellness
How does raw honey help immunity?
Raw honey contains natural antioxidants, polyphenols, and enzymes that support the immune system. Its antibacterial and antifungal properties also help soothe sore throats and support digestive health.
Can children consume raw honey?
Raw honey should not be given to infants under 12 months of age due to the risk of botulism. For children over one year and adults, it is a safe and healthy natural sweetener.
Is Kapilash Amrit honey suitable for diabetics?
While honey is a natural sweetener with a lower glycemic index than refined sugar, it still contains natural sugars. Individuals with diabetes should consult their healthcare provider before incorporating raw honey into their diet.
What is the best time of day to consume honey?
While honey can be enjoyed any time, many people prefer a spoonful in the morning with warm water to kickstart their metabolism and provide a natural energy boost.
Can I use raw honey in hot tea?
Yes, but to preserve the beneficial enzymes, it is best to add honey once the tea has cooled slightly to a drinkable temperature rather than adding it to boiling water.
Can I use honey for skincare?
Yes, raw honey is a natural humectant and has antimicrobial properties, making it an excellent ingredient for face masks and skin-soothing treatments. We recommend our Wildflower variant for its smooth texture.
Is your honey vegan?
Honey is an animal-derived product (made by bees), so most strict vegans choose not to consume it. However, many people who follow plant-based diets include raw honey due to its natural production and environmental benefits.
Does raw honey help with allergies?
Many people believe consuming local raw honey helps build immunity to seasonal allergies due to the small amounts of local pollen it contains. While not a medical cure, it is a widely valued wellness practice.
Storage & Crystallization
Why has my honey crystallized? Is it spoiled?
Crystallization is a completely natural and common process in raw, unpasteurized honey. It occurs because honey contains natural glucose that gradually forms crystals over time. This does not indicate spoilage — in fact, it is a sign of authenticity and that the honey has not been excessively processed or heated. To return it to liquid form, place the sealed jar in warm (not boiling) water and stir gently.
How should I store Kapilash Amrit honey?
Store your honey in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the lid tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption. Use a clean, dry spoon each time. Do not refrigerate as this accelerates crystallization. Properly stored, raw honey can last indefinitely.
Does crystallization change the taste of honey?
No, crystallization only changes the texture of the honey, making it thicker or grainy. The flavor and nutritional properties remain exactly the same. Many purists actually prefer the texture of crystallized honey as a spread.
Does raw honey expire?
Pure raw honey has no expiration date. Due to its high sugar concentration and acidic pH, it creates an environment where bacteria cannot survive. While we provide a 'best before' date on our jars for regulatory compliance, honey can remain edible for decades if stored properly.
Why is my honey thicker in winter?
Honey is naturally sensitive to temperature. In colder weather, it becomes more viscous (thicker) and may begin to crystallize. This is a physical change and does not affect the honey's quality.
Why do you use glass jars instead of plastic?
Glass is a zero-leach material that preserves the flavor and nutritional integrity of raw honey. Unlike plastic, glass does not release chemicals into the honey and is fully recyclable.
Can I freeze honey?
While you can freeze honey to prevent crystallization for long periods, it is not necessary. Standard storage in a cool, dry pantry is sufficient for daily use.
